On Wednesday, Adani Ports and Special Economic Zone Ltd (APSEZ) declared that it would build a multi-use dock at Gujarat’s Kandla Port.

The largest port developer-operator in India stated in a statement that Berth No. 13 at Deendayal Port in Kandla, which will handle multifunctional cargo, is anticipated to be put into service in FY27.

“We will diversify our presence at Deendayal Port with Berth No 13.” In addition to the dry bulk cargo that we already handle at the port, we will now handle multifunctional clean cargo’, stated Ashwani Gupta, Whole-time Director and CEO of APSEZ.

With a 300-meter length and 5.7 million metric tonnes of capacity per year, berth number 13 is available.

“The berth will further consolidate our position on the western coast and enhance our ability to service customers in Gujarat and north India,” Gupta added.

DPA Container and Clean Cargo Terminal Ltd (DPACCCTL), a wholly-owned subsidiary of Adani Ports, has been established to manage berthing activities.

The letter of intent (LOI) for the development, management, and upkeep of the berth for a 30-year concession period was obtained by Adani Ports in July. According to the business, the berth will be developed for multifunctional clean freight, including container cargo, using the DBFOT (design, construct, finance, operate and transfer) methodology.

Adani Ports recently declared that it would pay $185 million in all-cash to purchase an 80% share in Astro Offshore, a global operator of offshore support vessels. Astro will expand Adani Ports’ global marine clientele and assist in bringing on new Tier-1 clients. The Adani Group flagship firm stated that the deal, which has an implied enterprise value of $235 million, is anticipated to add value as early as the first year.

With seven strategically positioned ports and terminals on the west coast and eight on the east, Adani Ports is the largest port developer and operator in India.
