On Thursday, Union Home Minister Amit Shah will begin a two-day visit to Guwahati, where he will attend a meeting of the Assam BJP’s core committee to discuss matters related to the Assembly elections that are set for next year.
The Home Minister will attend the core committee meeting at the party headquarters shortly after his arrival, where he will also have supper with BJP members, Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma stated during a press conference on Wednesday.
Shah will talk on the party’s crucial preparations for the upcoming Assembly elections. The Chief Minister informed reporters that he pays close attention to state elections.
Shah is scheduled to attend the opening of the Raj Bhavan’s recently built Brahmaputra wing on Friday.
The National Cyber Forensic Laboratory’s e-inauguration and the e-foundation-laying of several development initiatives for the ITBP, SSB, and Assam Rifles will come next.
Shah will go to the ‘Panchayat Sanmilan’ later in the afternoon to attend a convention of recently elected NDA panchayat members.
Before leaving for New Delhi in the evening, he will kick off the centennial celebrations of Golap Borbora’s birth, Assam’s first chief minister who is not a member of the Congress.
“The visit of the Union Minister is very important for us politically, but all the other events are equally important,” Sarma stated.
Shah was originally supposed to spend a day in the state on August 29, but the itinerary was changed to include a two-day tour.
Chief Minister Sarma declared that Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s September 8 visit to Assam has been delayed because of the September 9 vice presidential election.
In connection with the year-long commemorations of Bhupen Hazarika’s birth centennial, Prime Minister Modi’s trip to Assam has been rescheduled for September 13–14.
The Prime Minister will mark the occasion on September 13, but the event in Assam will still happen on September 8.
