Prior to the formal meetings with President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva, Prime Minister Narendra Modi was greeted with a special performance of Ram Bhajan in Brasilia’s Alvorada Palace.
Randhir Jaiswal, a spokesman for the External Affairs Ministry, posted a 2.48-minute video on X with the caption, “PM @narendramodi was welcomed with a special performance of ‘Ram Bhajan’ upon arrival at the Alvorada Palace in Brasilia ahead of official talks.”
The video shows Meeta Ravindra Kumar Karahe, a classical vocalist, welcoming PM Modi with a devotional song.
As the ‘Bhajan’ music plays, PM Modi and President Lula da Silva can be seen clapping his hands softly in appreciation of the unique performance.
“I met the Prime Minister yesterday (Monday/Brazil time) evening and simply greeted him with a ‘Namaste’ from a distance,” Meeta Ravindra Kumar Karahe told IANS. From a distance, I informed him that the following day, I would be performing for him. The Brazilian government was the one that sent me the invitation.
According to her, Brazilians and Indians are “quite similar” in terms of behavior and hospitality. She claimed that Brazil, which holds her home country in high regard, feels like “a second India” even though she lives far away.
“I started taking classical music lessons when I was ten to eleven years old. President Lula wants someone from PM Modi’s home country to perform a devotional song that he enjoys, according to the invitation I received from the Brazilian administration to perform,” she told IANS.
President Lula da Silva of Brazil greeted Prime Minister Modi warmly at the Alvorada Palace in Brasilia on Tuesday as he began a state visit to the nation after attending the BRICS Summit in Rio de Janeiro.
Both leaders decided to increase the two nations’ collaboration in every area during their discussions. PM Modi emphasized that President Lula da Silva has been instrumental in “deepening our relations” and called him the “Chief Architect of the Strategic Partnership between India and Brazil.”
“Had productive discussions with President Lula, who has always been fervent about the friendship between Brazil and India. We discussed strategies for expanding and diversifying bilateral trade. In addition to posting images from his meeting with the Brazilian president, PM Modi wrote on X, “We both agree that there is immense scope for such linkages to thrive in the coming times.”
Our conversations also focused heavily on addressing climate change, sustainable development, and clean energy. We will also collaborate much more closely in the fields of agriculture, AI, security, and defense. “Our people will benefit from India-Brazil cooperation in space, semiconductors, and DPI,” PM Modi wrote on X.
“I sincerely thank my friend, President Lula, for the warm welcome in Rio and Brasilia,” PM Modi stated in a joint press statement with the Brazilian president. Your generosity and the splendor of the Amazon have genuinely moved us. For 140 crore Indians, like me, receiving Brazil’s highest national award from the president today is a moment of immense pride and emotion. For this honor, I am truly grateful to the President, the Brazilian government, and the Brazilian people.
“The Chief Architect of the Strategic Partnership between India and Brazil is my friend President Lula,” he stated. He has been instrumental in strengthening our relationship. Each encounter with him has motivated me to put forth more effort for the advancement and welfare of our two countries.
