As the disruption of IndiGo’s services continued to cause passenger bottlenecks, the Ministry of Civil Aviation launched a thorough, 24-hour examination of airport operations nationwide.

Senior officials have been sent at key airports, according to Civil Aviation Minister K. Ram Mohan Naidu, to evaluate ground conditions and make sure that passengers who are stuck or delayed have their issues promptly addressed.

The Ministry and the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) have been “constantly monitoring the situation across all the airports in real-time since 3rd December” when abnormalities in IndiGo’s operations started to impair schedules nationally, according to a thorough post on X by Ram Mohan Naidu.

The Minister characterized the events as “extraordinary circumstances” that necessitated prompt and ongoing action from the aviation establishment’s highest levels.

He claims that all senior Ministry and DGCA officials attended a high-level review meeting.

The review’s objective was to provide a thorough evaluation of airport operations, airline responsiveness, and the caliber of services offered to travelers impacted by delays and cancellations.

According to the Civil Aviation Minister, authorities were instructed to promptly spread out to airports throughout the nation during the meeting. Their duties include conducting ground inspections, interacting with travelers, confirming airline handling protocols, and identifying any deficiencies in passenger services, such as poor help at terminals, poor communication, or congestion management.

“Any shortcomings identified, including feedback received through interactions with passengers, are to be addressed and rectified immediately,” Minister Naidu stated in the article.

The Ministry’s heightened reaction coincides with travelers’ ongoing social media complaints about lengthy lines, sluggish check-in procedures, and unclear rescheduled flight information.

Since early this week, IndiGo, the biggest airline in India by market share, has been experiencing operational difficulties that have caused extensive disruptions at a number of major airports, including Delhi, Mumbai, Bengaluru, and Hyderabad.

Officials familiar with the situation stated that the government’s top priority is to stabilize on-ground procedures and guarantee that passengers receive timely updates, assistance, and alternate travel arrangements when necessary, even though the Minister did not go into detail about the reason for the disruption or the timeline for the full restoration of normal operations.

After the first evaluations from airport inspections are gathered and examined over the course of the following day, the Civil Aviation Ministry is anticipated to release a more comprehensive advisory.
