Adani Group Chairman Gautam Adani offered his sincere sympathies on the death of former Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh on Thursday, describing him as a rare leader who talked quietly yet made great leaps through his actions.

Dr. Singh, a prominent economist and architect of India’s economic reforms, died at the age of 92. He was hospitalised to the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) due to a deterioration in his condition.

“We are deeply grieved by the passing of Dr. Manmohan Singh. “History will always remember his pivotal role in the transformative 1991 reforms that reshaped India and opened its doors to the world,” Gautam Adani wrote on X.

Dr Singh, according to Gautam Adani, was “a rare leader who spoke softly but achieved monumental strides through his actions”.

“Dr Singh’s life remains a masterclass in leadership, humility and service to the nation and will inspire generations to come,” said the chairman of Adani Group.

The death of Dr Singh was verified by AIIMS New Delhi.

“We regret to tell you of the death of Dr. Manmohan Singh, India’s former Prime Minister, at the age of 92. On December 26, he experienced an abrupt loss of consciousness at home while receiving treatment for age-related medical issues. Resuscitative procedures were initiated immediately at home. He was transported to AIIMS’ medical emergency department. Despite all efforts, he could not be revived and died at 9.51 p.m., according to a hospital statement.

Dr. Singh, the country’s Prime Minister from 2004 to 2014, was well-known for his revolutionary role in guiding India’s economy through a period of unprecedented reform.
