In a meeting with UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres in New York, External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar thanked him for his unwavering support of India’s expansion and advancement.
Additionally, EAM Jaishankar expressed ambition to host Guterres in India and valued his viewpoint on important regional concerns.
It was a pleasure to see UNSG Antonio Guterres in New York today. I like his analysis on the state of the world now and how it affects multilateralism. I also valued his opinions on several local hotspots. Thank him for his unambiguous and steadfast support of India’s expansion and advancement. EAM Jaishankar said on X on Friday, “Look forward to welcoming him in India.”
Guterres conveyed his sympathies to the Indian government and people earlier on Tuesday “for what happened there,” and according to his deputy spokesperson Farhan Haq, the issue has to be thoroughly examined.
When asked about the incident at the Red Fort during the daily UN briefing, he responded, “We are also, of course, sending our condolences to the government of, people of India for what has happened there, and that also needs to be fully investigated.”
Only “what happened there” was how Haq described the Red Fort attack.
A automobile registered in Haryana that was parked close to Gate No. 1 of the Red Fort Metro Station exploded on Monday night, killing multiple people and injuring more than twenty.
“Our agencies will uncover this conspiracy,” declared Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Everyone accountable will face justice.
“The country has witnessed a heinous terror incident, perpetrated by anti-national forces, through a car explosion,” the Indian Union Cabinet announced in a resolution that it was a terrorist attack.
The resolution further stated, “The cabinet directs that the investigation into the incident be pursued with the utmost urgency and professionalism so that the perpetrators, their collaborators, and their sponsors are identified and brought to justice without delay.”
