Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw declared on Monday that he will be switching to Zoho, a proprietary platform for spreadsheets, presentations, and documents.
He shared the news on social media site X and encouraged people to embrace local goods and services in support of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s demand for Swadeshi.
He posted on X, “I’m switching to Zoho, our own Swadeshi platform for documents, spreadsheets, and presentations.”
“I implore everyone to embrace indigenous goods and services in support of PM Narendra Modi’s call for Swadeshi,” Vaishnaw continued.
The plea was made shortly after Prime Minister Modi urged Indians to support Made-in-India goods over the holiday season in a letter to the nation’s inhabitants.
PM Modi attributed the action to the “Viksit Bharat 2047” vision and claimed that purchasing Swadeshi goods benefits local industries, workers, and craftsmen in addition to bolstering the economy.
The Prime Minister had urged traders to support local products, saying, “Every time you buy a product made by our artisans, workers, and industries, you are helping families earn their living and creating job opportunities for our youth.”
With the introduction of “GST Bachat Utsav,” which was made possible by the Next Generation GST reforms, PM Modi emphasized in his message that there is even more reason to celebrate this year’s holiday season.
He said that all facets of society—farmers, women, youth, traders, and MSMEs—would see faster growth as a result of these reforms, which would also lower family bills and make company operations easier.
The Prime Minister also referred to the introduction of the GST in 2017 as a “turning point” that provided relief under the concept of “One Nation, One Tax” by relieving businesses and residents of the burden of many taxes.
The declaration by Vaishnaw to switch to Zoho is indicative of the government’s larger initiative to embrace indigenous platforms and encourage independence.
In keeping with the Prime Minister’s appeal for independence and inclusive growth, it is also interpreted as a message to the populace to favor Swadeshi goods and services more and more in their day-to-day lives.
