While on an official visit to Denmark, External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar met Danish Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen in Copenhagen. While there, he reaffirmed India’s commitment to strengthening its Green Strategic Partnership with Denmark and sent Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s personal congratulations.

“Thank you to PM Mette Frederiksen for welcoming me to Copenhagen this evening,” EAM Jaishankar posted on X. conveyed PM Narendra Modi’s personal greetings. Express gratitude to Denmark for its assistance and unity in the fight against terrorism. I appreciate PM Frederiksen’s advice on how to advance our Green Strategic Partnership and expand our collaborative scope.

PM Modi was originally supposed to attend the third India-Nordic Summit, which is set to take place in Norway later this year. However, due to scheduling changes, Jaishankar will instead represent India at the meeting, which took place on Tuesday evening.

Jaishankar and Frederiksen talked about counterterrorism cooperation and other regional and international matters of shared interest during their discussion.

Denmark has continuously backed India’s stance on international terrorism, a subject that has become more urgent in light of recent South Asian security events.

The Green Strategic Partnership is a special diplomatic framework between India and Denmark that was introduced in 2020 and is the only one of its kind in the world.

With both nations concentrating on climate action, renewable energy, water management, and sustainable development, it has grown to be a pillar of bilateral relations.

Both leaders emphasized the expanding breadth of bilateral collaboration in a phone conversation earlier in April between PM Modi and PM Frederiksen.

It was a pleasure to talk to PM Mette Frederiksen today. After the call, PM Modi wrote on X, “Reaffirmed our strong support for the India-Denmark Green Strategic Partnership and enhancing cooperation across sectors for the benefit of our people.”
