Locally and globally, Jabalpur would be at the center of India’s shift from “make in India” to “make for the world,” Union Communication Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia declared on Monday.
Industry and the government are two sides of the same coin. As global technology giants and Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) inked strategic Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs), the minister stated, “Together, we can make our youth’s dreams a reality.”
BSNL inked strategic Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) with four global technology leaders—Ericsson India, Qualcomm Technologies Inc., Cisco Systems, and Nokia Solutions and Networks India—in order to develop a skilled labor force that is ready for the sector.
According to Scindia, the project is a significant step in BSNL’s partnership with top international technology companies to develop a talented and future-ready telecom workforce.
“With Phase 1 investments exceeding Rs 1 crore, the program will train over 2,000 students annually, supported by industry leaders like Ericsson, Nokia, Cisco, Qualcomm, and BSNL,” the minister stated.
These collaborations will introduce advanced training programs in 5G, AI/ML, networking, and digital technologies at BSNL’s premier training facility, the Bharat Ratna Bhim Rao Ambedkar Institute of Telecom Training (BRBRAITT) in Jabalpur, with the goal of quickening India’s digital transformation and bolstering the skilling ecosystem.
The minister said, “The courses—which range from intensive 84-hour programs to short two-week modules—aim to position Jabalpur as a hub for cutting-edge technology education.”
This move is a step in the direction of a larger plan by the Ministry of Communications’ Department of Telecommunications (DoT) to create a Telecom Innovation, Research and Training Center (TIRTC) at BRBRAITT.
In line with the Hon. Prime Minister’s vision of Skill India and Atmanirbhar Bharat, TIRTC is envisioned as an industry-led national hub that would concentrate on cultivating telecom-specific R&D expertise and a workforce prepared for the future.
