The Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO) announced on Thursday that Shubhanshu Shukla, who returned from the ISS earlier this week, is in stable condition.

According to ISRO, the organization is “monitoring the physical and mental health” of Shukla and is working with Axiom Space on rehabilitation exercises. Preliminary health checks reveal “no immediate concerns,” according to the national space agency.

Shukla was the first Indian to enter the orbiting laboratory on June 26. On Tuesday, the IAF Group Captain and other astronauts from the US, Poland, and Hungary boarded SpaceX’s Dragon spacecraft “Grace” to return to Earth.

According to ISRO, the recovery ship was used for the initial health examinations.

According to ISRO, Shukla’s status was stable based on preliminary health evaluations, and no urgent issues were raised.

Shukla was helicoptered from the recovery ship to the mainland for additional medical examinations and debriefings following the examination.

To lessen the negative effects of microgravity, Shukla was later flown to Houston for a week-long rehabilitation program.

“Gaganyatri’s rehabilitation activities focus on monitoring his physical and mental health, addressing any effects of microgravity, and preparing him for a return to normal activities,” according to ISRO.

This comprises a number of medical examinations, particularly musculoskeletal exams, psychological evaluations, and cardiovascular assessments. The national space agency further stated that ISRO’s flight surgeon is taking part in this initiative, which is being administered by Axiom’s flight surgeon.

Following his 18-day stint on the ISS, Shukla also reconnected with his wife, Kamna Shukla, and son, Kiash Shukla, who is six years old, on Wednesday.

It felt like home when I returned to Earth and embraced my family. Today, locate a loved one and express your love for them. We frequently become so preoccupied with life that we lose sight of the significance of the people in our lives. The astronaut remarked, “Human spaceflight missions are magical, but they are made magical by the humans.”

According to Shukla, meeting your loved ones after a lengthy absence is just as thrilling as traveling across space.

“I was placed under quarantine two months ago. We had to keep 8 meters between each other during family visits during the quarantine. My child had to be informed that he was not allowed to contact his father since he had germs on his hands.

“Can I wash my hands?” he would ask his mother each time he paid her a visit. It was difficult,” Shukla remarked.
