Mamata Banerjee was hurt by Operation Sindoor’s success: Amit Shah

Union Home Minister Amit Shah said on Sunday that West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee was hurt by the success of Operation Sindoor, the attack that saw the Indian Armed Forces demolish many terror sites in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir.

“The terror headquarters located 100 kilometers inside Pakistan has been destroyed by our forces. The strike killed more than 100 terrorists. But the successful strike gave Mamata Banerjee a gut ache. When West Bengalis were killed in the April terror incident at Pahalgam, I hope she felt the pain. However, she made an unwelcome political remark criticizing Operation Sindoor when our Prime Minister, Narendra Modi, visited West Bengal following the successful operation. Speaking at a political rally on Sunday at the Netaji Indoor Stadium in central Kolkata, the Union Home Minister claimed that the Chief Minister had played with the emotions of mothers and sisters throughout the nation.

Notably, last week the Chief Minister said that Operation Sindoor’s name was politically motivated.

Her remarks were made just minutes after Prime Minister Narendra Modi spoke at a political rally from Alipurduar, where he attacked the ruling Trinamool Congress and the West Bengal administration harshly on topics including atrocities against Hindus, women’s safety, and corruption.

Shah added that the Chief Minister should realize that Operation Sindoor is still ongoing, even if she may want to assist the terrorists that Pakistan has dispatched to India. The Union Home Minister declared, “Anyone who will try to do any mischief will be given a fitting reply.”

In his remarks, he also chastised the Chief Minister for failing to provide the Border Security Force (BSF) with land so they could erect barbed fences along the state’s foreign boundaries. “In order for her government to continue, the Chief Minister needs the unlawful infiltration to continue. In order for her nephew to eventually become the next Chief Minister of West Bengal, she wants the illegal infiltration to continue,” Shah stated.

The Home Minister further stated that the murderers of BJP employees in West Bengal will be apprehended and punished if the BJP wins the state’s 2026 assembly election.

“Corruption exists in all areas of West Bengal’s government. The general populace continued to suffer while the leaders of the Trinamool Congress profited from such corruption. If central armed police forces had been used earlier, the Hindu population in Murshidabad might have been protected. It is now established that the Trinamool Congress leaders and elected officials were complicit in the rioting,” Shah stated.
