Meeting with his Danish counterpart Rasmussen, EAM Jaishankar praises Denmark’s anti-terrorist efforts

On Wednesday (local time), External Affairs Minister (EAM) S. Jaishankar met with Danish Foreign Minister Lars Lokke Rasmussen to discuss India-Denmark relations. He also praised Denmark’s unwavering support and solidarity in the fight against terrorism.

It was a pleasure to meet FM Lars Lokke Rasmussen this evening in Copenhagen. It is really admirable how united and supportive Denmark has been in the fight against terrorism. Our extensive discussion on both bilateral and international concerns demonstrates the depth of our friendship,” EAM Jaishankar wrote in a post on X on Wednesday night.

The second part of the EAM’s three-nation tour, which includes the Netherlands, Denmark, and Germany, landed here Tuesday evening.

The EAM met with Soren Gade, the Speaker of the Danish Parliament Folketing, earlier in the day to thank Denmark for its anti-terrorism collaboration.

“Today’s meeting in Copenhagen with Speaker Soren Gade was quite cordial. We value his support as India steadfastly fights terrorism. In a different post on X, EAM Jaishankar added, “I also appreciate his consistent support for fostering India-Denmark relations.”

EAM Jaishankar spoke with the Indian community in Copenhagen later on Wednesday, highlighting their contribution to strengthening cross-cultural ties.

It was a pleasure to meet with representatives of the Indian community in Copenhagen. They promote our good reputation in Denmark and fly the Indian flag with pride,” he continued.

Following a fruitful two-day official visit to the Netherlands from May 19 to 20, EAM Jaishankar landed in Denmark on Wednesday.

During the EAM’s reception with Danish Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen, the India-Denmark Green Strategic Partnership was the main topic of discussion.

This demonstrated both countries’ dedication to strengthening their bilateral ties and tackling global issues.

The Danish Minister for Industry, Business, and Financial Affairs, Morten Bodskov, met with Jaishankar in Copenhagen after this.

The two ministers talked about expanding their current areas of collaboration and investigating potential new avenues.

“Today, I had the pleasure of meeting Morten Bodskov, Minister of Industry, Business, and Financial Affairs, in Copenhagen. We talked about expanding on our current areas of collaboration and investigating new avenues,” EAM Jaishankar said on X.

From May 19 to 24, EAM Jaishankar will travel to Germany, Denmark, and the Netherlands on a formal visit.

EAM Jaishankar expressed gratitude to Prime Minister Frederiksen for “warmly receiving” him in Copenhagen in a post on X.

EAM Jaishankar also delivered Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s personal greetings during the meeting.
