Prime Minister Narendra Modi gave the nation’s agricultural scientists and experts instructions on Thursday to carry out the “lab to land” campaign in the villages under the “Viksit Krishi Sankalp Abhiyan” as a national service rather than just as “doing a routine government job.”

Speaking to the “Viksit Krishi Sankalp Abhiyan,” the prime minister emphasized that as the monsoon draws near and the Kharif season gets ready, up to 2000 teams made up of scientists, experts, officials, and forward-thinking farmers will visit more than 700 districts nationwide over the course of the next 12 to 15 days, reaching millions of farmers in villages.

According to PM Modi, as part of this initiative, scientific teams would go from the lab to the field, providing farmers with thorough data and cutting-edge agricultural knowledge. Before the Kharif season starts, he emphasized, these teams will be prepared to help farmers.

PM Modi emphasized that agriculture has historically been a state matter, with each state developing policies and implementing programs for farmers’ well-being. He added that, in view of the quickly evolving times, India’s agricultural sector likewise needs to undergo substantial change.

Grain stocks have been filled by record production by Indian farmers, he said, but consumer preferences and market dynamics are changing. Therefore, it is essential to work with states and farmers to implement contemporary reforms in agricultural systems.

The Prime Minister commended forward-thinking farmers who have successfully experimented with new approaches, producing exceptional yields, and highlighted the major research improvements made by India’s agricultural scientists over the decades, emphasizing their positive impact on farming outcomes.

The Prime Minister emphasized that although efforts have been ongoing, there is now a need to accelerate these activities with renewed zeal, highlighting the significance of making sure that scientific research and effective farming techniques reach the larger farming community.

The Prime Minister said, “Viksit Krishi Sankalp Abhiyan offers a great chance to close this knowledge gap and give farmers access to innovative agricultural insights.”

PM Modi emphasized that India’s agriculture must change in order to create a Viksit Bharat, outlining seven important areas of the federal government’s priority that are intended to change the agricultural sector. He listed important concerns, such as guaranteeing farmers receive fair pricing for their output, bolstering the agricultural sector, and coordinating crop production with national demands.

“India must not only meet its own needs but also become a global food supplier,” said Prime Minister Modi, adding that it is crucial to address climate change issues, improve grain production with less water use, safeguard soil health from dangerous chemicals, modernize farming methods, and apply science and technology in the fields.

He emphasized that the government has made significant efforts in these areas during the past ten to eleven years.

He asked everyone involved in the campaign to make sure farmers are fully aware of the latest developments in agriculture.

The Prime Minister underlined important programs meant to provide opportunities for farmers and emphasized the significance of giving them other revenue streams outside of traditional agriculture.

Installing solar panels along field boundaries can bring in extra money, he said. He mentioned the Sweet Revolution’s effects and said that beekeeping is helping farmers and has to be extended to include more people. In order to turn waste into riches, the prime minister also emphasized the necessity of turning agricultural leftovers into electricity.

He emphasized how important it is to find appropriate locations for growing “Shri Anna” and improving the value addition of agricultural products.

The Prime Minister went on to say that the Gobardhan Yojana has made it possible for even animals that do not milk to contribute to the economy by creating options for income generation. To guarantee the greatest possible involvement and advantages, he urged farmers to become widely aware of these technologies.

PM Modi emphasized the importance of this aim by saying, “India’s agriculture must become a cornerstone of a developed India.” In order to gain useful insights, he encouraged farmers to actively interact with visiting scientists by asking questions.

He called on officials to thoroughly answer farmers’ questions and record their insightful recommendations.

“The Viksit Krishi Sankalp Abhiyan will propel agricultural modernization and open up new pathways for India’s farmers,” he continued.
