Prime Minister Narendra Modi harshly criticized the opposition on Tuesday for raising doubts about the timing of Operation Mahadev, in which Indian soldiers killed three Pakistani terrorists connected to the Pahalgam terror assault on April 22.

PM Modi criticized the opposition’s reaction to the most recent anti-terror operation during a heated speech in the Lok Sabha during the debate on Operation Sindoor, accusing them of politicizing national security.

“They persisted in asking, ‘What about the Pahalgam terrorists?’ for weeks. “They’re questioning the timing now that the forces have taken action,” the prime minister stated. “What is the matter with these individuals? Do they think we’ll wait for Saawan ka Somwar to start the Mahadev operation?

The prime minister’s comments came after a number of opposition figures, including Akhilesh Yadav, the leader of the Samajwadi Party, had questioned the operation’s timing earlier in the day. “What caused yesterday’s encounter? The Treasury benches reacted negatively to Yadav’s statement that “all parties had shown support when the time was right.”

After a number of lawmakers demanded evidence that the Pahalgam attackers were, in fact, from across the border, PM Modi further charged that the Congress was subtly repeating Pakistan’s story.

The country is in disbelief. Give us evidence that the terrorists were from Pakistan, the Congress is requesting. Pakistan is saying precisely that. Does Congress now speak the language of Pakistan? PM Modi inquired. He claimed that the party had essentially handed Pakistan a “clean chit” by raising questions about the attackers’ place of origin.

Following the horrific slaughter of 26 civilians in Pahalgam earlier this year, Operation Mahadev was initiated. Three terrorists connected to The Resistance Front (TRF), a proxy group supported by Pakistan, were killed in the operation, which was executed by a combined Army, CRPF, and J&K Police squad.

The opposition is being criticized for what the ruling party refers to as “irresponsible politicking in the face of terror,” while the BJP has positioned itself as resolute on national security.
