In the crucial election for Secretary (Administration) of the Constitution Club of India (CCI), BJP MP Rajiv Pratap Rudy defeated party colleague and former Union Minister Dr. Sanjeev Balyan.
During the contest, which featured fierce campaigning and unexpected political alliances, Mr. Rudy won the position by a margin of 102 votes.
With roughly 679 votes cast and 38 ballots recorded, 707 votes were counted, representing nearly 60% of the electorate. This is allegedly the largest voter turnout in CCI polling history.
Following the victory, Mr. Rudy stated, “No, I believe a lot of the facts that have been stated are incorrect. Later, I’ll offer my thoughts on that. However, it is currently true that our team has won a significant battle.
Due to the intense campaign and the intra-party rivalry, the confrontation between two well-known BJP leaders garnered notice. Rudy, a former Union Minister, commercial pilot, and five-time MP, has been the Club’s Secretary (Administration) for more than 20 years. Critics claimed that it was time for a new team, and his lengthy tenure—during which he was credited with saving the institution from neglect and decay—became a major problem.
A formidable campaign was put up by his opponent, Dr. Sanjeev Balyan, a former Union Minister and veterinary by training.
Kangana Ranaut, a new BJP MP, added to the excitement by noticing the intense competition and saying, “For the first time, it’s BJP versus BJP, so this is quite confusing, especially for those of us who are new.”
Members of the Constitution Club, which has been around for about 80 years, include both present and former lawmakers. Other important positions were filled without opposition, with the exception of the Secretary (Administration) job. Following the withdrawal of rival candidates, DMK MP Tiruchi Siva was chosen Secretary (Culture), Congress MP Rajiv Shukla was elected Secretary (Sports), and DMK MP P. Wilson was elected Secretary (Treasurer).
