During his visit to President Droupadi Murmu on Tuesday at Rashtrapati Bhavan in New Delhi, Mauritius Prime Minister Navinchandra Ramgoolam spoke about the special and enduring bonds between the two nations, which are bonded by a common history, language, culture, and set of values.
The meeting marked the end of Prime Minister Ramgoolam’s September 9–16 State Visit to India, which included stops in Mumbai, Varanasi, Ayodhya, and Tirupati.
Mauritius holds a special place in India’s “Neighbourhood First” Policy, “MAHASAGAR Vision,” and New Delhi’s commitment to the Global South, the President stated as he welcomed Prime Minister Ramgoolam and his delegation to Rashtrapati Bhavan.
The President expressed satisfaction with the steady growth of Mauritius-India collaboration and partnership in all areas. According to her, the relationship’s recent promotion to “Enhanced Strategic Partnership” reflects this growth.
“The President expressed confidence that the new Special Economic Package will be able to meet the needs of the government and people of Mauritius and was pleased to see that India is supporting the government’s developmental priorities.” According to her, the projects—which include joint surveillance, highways, ports, hospitals, and defense procurement—will improve infrastructure and improve people’s lives in the years to come. Following the meeting, the President’s Secretariat released a statement in which she said, “Bilateral cooperation is now also expanding in new areas, including digital technologies and the space sector.”
The two presidents concurred that our shared history, language, culture, and values form the foundation of our special relationship. The President expressed optimism that the long-standing bilateral connections between India and Mauritius will continue to grow in the future under Prime Minister Ramgoolam’s extensive leadership experience.
At the Vice-President’s Enclave, Navinchandra Ramgoolam also met with Vice President C P Radhakrishnan, where they discussed ways to improve people-to-people, trade, and economic relations between the two countries.
The prime minister of Mauritius honored former prime minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee and Mahatma Gandhi in New Delhi earlier in the day.
After arriving in New Delhi on Monday evening, Ramgoolam went to Rajghat and honored Mahatma Gandhi. At the Sadaiv Atal, he also honored former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee.
He and his wife prayed at Tirumala Temple in Tirupati prior to traveling to the capital.
Ramgoolam prayed at the Shri Ram Janmabhoomi temple on September 12 with his wife Veena Ramgoolam and a delegation of thirty others. Following the Prime Minister of Bhutan, he was the second Head of State to visit and worship Ram Lalla at the opulent temple.
The prime minister of Mauritius and his spouse spent about thirty minutes in devotion, performing aarti and praying before Ram Lalla. They also looked at the ongoing construction of the temple.
Last week, Ramgoolam also prayed at Varanasi’s Kashi Vishwanath Temple. He visited the temple with Anandiben Patel, the governor of Uttar Pradesh.
“PM Dr. Navinchandra Ramgoolam of Mauritius offered prayers at the sacred Kashi Vishwanath Dham in Varanasi,” MEA spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal tweeted while posting the images on X. A tour that reflects the strong ties of culture and civilization between Mauritius and India.
Ramgoolam also saw the Ganga Aarti on the Varanasi ghats on September 11. He also met with Prime Minister Narendra Modi on September 11 on his eight-day trip to India, where the two leaders discussed every facet of their bilateral partnership.
