On Tuesday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will kick off Urban Development Year 2025 in Gandhinagar, Gujarat, commemorating 20 years of the state’s planned and sustainable urban development.

As it lays out the next stage of Gujarat’s urban strategy, the event, which is set for approximately 11 a.m., is anticipated to get a lot of attention and strengthen the state’s standing as a pioneer in infrastructure innovation, clean energy, and urban planning.

Top state officials, urban planners, and stakeholders from many sectors are expected to attend the event, which PM Modi is also expected to speak at.

The prime minister will officially launch and lay the groundwork for a number of important water, healthcare, and urban development initiatives.

In keeping with Gujarat’s dedication to sustainable and clean urban life, the event will also mark the introduction of the State Clean Air Programme, which seeks to address air pollution through a multi-sectoral approach.

PM Modi will open the Indian Railways’ cutting-edge Locomotive Manufacturing Plant in Dahod, which will significantly improve train infrastructure and the country’s Made in India campaign. Strong 9000 HP electric locomotives for both local and international use will be produced at the site.

Additionally, he will flag off the plant’s first electric locomotive. The freight capacity and efficiency of Indian Railways are anticipated to be greatly increased by these powerful locomotives.

Under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (PMAY), beneficiaries will receive around 22,000 housing units, and under the Swarnim Jayanti Mukhyamantri Shaheri Vikas Yojana, urban local authorities will receive Rs 3,300 crore in funding.

The tour highlights Gujarat’s integrated urban development strategy and supports India’s overarching objective of developing top-notch infrastructure and environmentally friendly transportation options.

Speaking at a road show in Bhuj earlier on Monday, Prime Minister Modi declared that anyone who dares to bleed Indian blood will suffer the consequences of India’s zero-tolerance stance against terrorism, which Operation Sindoor has strengthened.
