On Thursday at 6 p.m., Prime Minister Narendra Modi will launch the World Food India (WFI) 2025, establishing India as a “global food hub” for food supply and processing.
With over 2,000 exhibitors, tens of thousands of stakeholders throughout the whole food value chain—from farm to fork—and participation from over 90 countries, this edition is anticipated to be the biggest yet, according to an official statement released on Wednesday.
The massive event, which is billed as one of the largest gatherings of national and international business leaders, investors, and senior government dignitaries, will give producers, food processors, equipment manufacturers, cold chain operators, logistics companies, technology providers, startups, innovators, and retailers a chance to highlight their capabilities.
The event will include high-level knowledge sessions and panel discussions with international politicians, industry experts, and thought leaders.
While B2B and B2G networking possibilities seek to establish new alliances and collaborations, sectoral displays will highlight advancements in the food processing, packaging, machinery, cold chain, and related industries.
Culinary events and chef contests will showcase India’s varied culinary legacy in addition to new international trends in sustainable and futuristic cuisine, enhancing the lively atmosphere.
WFI 2025 will be accompanied by two significant international gatherings: the 24th India International Seafood Show (IISS), hosted by the Seafood Exporters Association of India (SEAI), and the 3rd Global Food Regulators Summit, hosted by the Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI).
Strengthening international food safety regulations and increasing India’s potential for seafood exports will be the main objectives of these concurrent events.
The Viksit Bharat 2047 vision, which sees India as a developed, inclusive, and globally competitive country, is thought to be achieved in large part through WFI 2025.
In order to increase farmer incomes, lower post-harvest losses, generate employment in Tier-2 and Tier-3 cities, and promote rural prosperity, the event will bring together technology, investment, and innovation.
The event, which is based on five pillars—sustainability, infrastructure, entrepreneurship, global leadership, and innovation—will support micro-enterprises, capacity building, and the Make in India initiative while highlighting climate-smart technologies, nutrition-focused products, advanced food technology, and global integration.
India’s growing international collaboration in the food sector will be highlighted by the participation of Japan, the United Arab Emirates, Vietnam, and Russia as Focus Countries, and New Zealand and Saudi Arabia as Partner Countries.
According to the statement, their presence is anticipated to improve information sharing, fortify bilateral connections, and open up new avenues for international investment and trade.
