On Monday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will travel to Arunachal Pradesh and Tripura to inaugurate a number of economic and infrastructure projects. He will lay the groundwork for many projects in Itanagar that will total more than Rs 5,100 crore, including two significant hydropower projects.
PM Modi will visit Tripura after his commitments in Arunachal Pradesh. There, he is expected to officially open construction at the famous Mata Tripura Sundari Temple complex in Udaipur. Religious rites will be performed during the visit, but no public speech is anticipated. The cultural and spiritual significance of the temple will be the main topic of the 45-minute program.
Before taking a chopper to Palatana, the prime minister is anticipated to land at Maharaja Bir Bikram Airport in Agartala. He will next proceed to the temple location via road.
According to a senior official, the prime minister will essentially set the groundwork for two significant hydroelectric power projects with a combined 426 MW of output capacity. The state-owned North Eastern Electric Power Corporation (NEEPCO) is anticipated to put both projects into service.
NEEPCO, a fully owned subsidiary of National Thermal Power Corporation (NTPC) Limited, is the owner of the Heo Hydro Electric Project (240 MW) and the Tato-I Hydro Electric Project (186 MW).
The official claims that NEEPCO is working in partnership with the Arunachal Pradesh government to create these two power projects, which are expected to cost more than Rs 3,700 crore.
About 1000 MUs will be produced yearly by the Heo Hydro Electric Project (3×80 MW), which is situated in the Shi Yomi district’s Siyom sub-basin. Every year, the Tato-I Hydroelectric Project (3×62 MW) will produce about 803 MUs.
According to the official, both projects are anticipated to provide sustainable energy and capitalize on Arunachal Pradesh’s enormous hydropower potential, which will have a significant positive socioeconomic impact on the area.
He claimed that by creating new job possibilities, these programs are well-positioned to lead the state toward development and advancement, accelerating growth and creating a better future for its people.
In addition to changing Arunachal Pradesh’s energy and development landscape and boosting the nation’s power sector with the goal of establishing “Viksit Bharat by 2047,” the Heo and Tato-I projects will collectively make a substantial contribution to India’s clean energy targets, the official noted.
Since its founding in 1976, the North Eastern Electric electricity Corporation (NEEPCO) has served as the mainstay of electricity generation in the Northeastern part of India. NEEPCO has developed into a Mini Ratna Category-I Public Sector Enterprise with the goal of utilizing the region’s enormous hydro potential.
