In Sunday’s high-stakes Asia Cup Super Fours match at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium, captain Suryakumar Yadav won the toss and chose to bowl first against Pakistan, bringing back Jasprit Bumrah and Varun Chakaravarthy for India.
Last week, the two teams played each other in a Group A match at the same location, with India winning by seven wickets. But the fallout made news because the Indian team nearly withdrew from the eight-team game after none of their players shook hands with their Pakistani counterparts, which infuriated the latter.
Suryakumar stated that Bumrah and Chakaravarthy replace Arshdeep Singh and Harshit Rana in the starting eleven after winning the toss. Additionally, it indicates that Axar Patel, who had a head injury while fielding in their last Group A match against Oman in Abu Dhabi, is healthy enough to play on Sunday.
There was dew yesterday, and the track appears to be pleasant. Nothing has changed since the first round, when we believed we were competing in a knockout event. That wicket (in Abu Dhabi) was entirely different. “Just another game, quite normal,” he remarked.
Salman Agha, the captain of Pakistan, stated that Hasan Nawaz and Khushdil Shah are replaced in the starting eleven by Faheem Asharf and Hussain Talat. “I also would have bowled first. It’s a brand-new challenge and game. The atmosphere is really typical. It appears that the pitch is a little slower. He stated, “I want to start well with both bat and ball.”
Andy Pycroft will continue to serve as the match referee for the encounter in Dubai, and Suryakumar and Salman did not shake hands at toss time, just like in the game last week.
