The Indian diaspora continues to demonstrate against the horrific Pahalgam terrorist attack by holding nonviolent demonstrations in support of the victims.
On April 22, four heavily armed terrorists, two of whom were from Pakistan, broke out of the surrounding dense forests and opened fire indiscriminately on tourists in the Baisaran Valley near Pahalgam, resulting in the brutal attack that killed 26 innocent tourists and critically injured several more.
One of the most horrifying attacks in the area in recent memory, according to some accounts.
In the United States, the Hindu Community of Georgia organized a nonviolent protest rally in Atlanta in response to the sad incident. Congressman Rich McCormick of the US Republican Party joined it, and the group vehemently denounced terrorism and demanded justice and world peace.
In support of the victims, the Indian diaspora in Madrid, Spain, staged a nonviolent demonstration in Plaza de Callao. The community demanded international solidarity and forceful action against terrorism in response to the horrifying terror attack.
To honor the victims, members of the Indian diaspora and other community members gathered at the Indian Consulate General in Toronto, Canada.
“Innocent people died. Families fell apart. The Consulate General of India, Toronto, wrote on X that “the diaspora and friends of India stood united at the Consulate in tribute to the victims of the Pahalgam terror attack, sharing heartfelt words of support and solidarity.”
About 200 Indian associations from all of India’s regions, religions, and languages gathered in Chicago, together with the National India Hub in Schaumburg, Illinois, to voice their opposition to the tragic attack on tourists.
At the mournful event, which was characterized by solidarity, remembrance, and a strong resolve against terrorism, Indian Consul General in Chicago Somnath Ghosh spoke to the crowd.
The Indian diaspora in Sweden held silence in remembrance of the victims and pledged support for India in the war against terrorism.
“In remembrance of the victims of the Pahalgam terror tragedy, Embassy arranged a floral tribute and observed quiet. The Indian Embassy in Sweden wrote on X that the Indian Diaspora had decided to unify in the fight against terrorist plots against India and its citizens.
In a similar vein, a somber prayer meeting for the victims was organized at St. Mary’s Orthodox Church in Jackson Heights, New York.
