On Saturday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi declared that the Union government is always working to promote Manipur because “Viksit Bharat” will be strengthened even more with “Viksit Manipur.”

The Prime Minister stated that any violence in Manipur is regrettable because the state has a long and rich history of fighting against injustice. The 17 infrastructure projects, totaling Rs 1,200 crore, were inaugurated from the historic Kangla Fort in Imphal.

A new age of growth has already begun in the state during the previous 11 years, since the state saw less development prior to 2014. “To overcome the situation, united efforts are very important to take forward Manipur’s development and prosperity,” PM Modi stated.

Without bringing up the conflict between the Meiteis and Kuki-Zo communities, the prime minister emphasized the importance of building a bridge connecting the hills and valley regions of Imphal.

He made reference to the opening of a new Civil Secretariat in the Imphal West district’s Mantripukhri, saying that the public would receive better services from the new agency.

After virtually inaugurating the two Bhavans, which were built at a total cost of Rs 206 crore, PM Modi stated that they were built for the comfort of the Manipur people who travel to Delhi and Kolkata for a variety of reasons.

He went on to say that the opening of 17 infrastructure projects on Saturday would further accelerate Manipur’s growth and generate a large number of new job opportunities.

According to PM Modi, his government has always been sensitive to all of Manipur’s issues, and a number of projects have been implemented to address the state’s ongoing flood concerns.

The Prime Minister also revealed that four ‘Ima Markets’ (all women-run markets) were opened in Tengnoupal, Noney, Pallel, and Moirang, highlighting the fact that Manipur women are leaders in the nation.

PM Modi stated that the markets would be very beneficial to women and that the new GST reforms, which would take effect on September 22, would also benefit the general public.

The prime minister claimed that the GST reforms would lower the cost of cement and building supplies and lower the GST on the majority of hotels to just 5%, making it more affordable to travel, stay in hotels, and eat out.

He emphasized that more people will be inspired to visit, discover, and take in the many regions of the nation as a result.

He pointed out that this shift will be especially advantageous for popular tourist destinations like the Northeast.

The Indian tricolor flag was initially raised in Moirang, Manipur, by the Indian National Army (INA), under the command of Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose, according to the prime minister.

The brave freedom fighters of Manipur, who gave their lives to battle against the British empire, were honored and remembered by the renaming of Mount Harriet in the Andaman and Nicobar Islands as “Mount Manipur.”

PM Modi spoke to the state’s rich culture when he stated that India’s culture and sports would be lacking without Manipuri culture and sports.

“India is going to be the sports powerhouse in the world, and the role of Manipuri sportsmen and women would be invaluable,” he said, adding that the state was chosen to establish the National Sports University due to the enormous contributions and success of Manipuri sports figures.

The Prime Minister inaugurated 17 projects in Imphal, including the Civil Secretariat, the New Police Headquarters and Special Economic Zone (SEZ) building at Mantripukhri in Imphal West district, the Ima Markets (all women’s markets) at four locations (Tengnoupal, Noney, Pallel, and Moirang), and Manipur Bhawan in Dwarka, New Delhi, and Salt Lake City in Kolkata.

Additionally, he officially opened the Western River Front of the Imphal River Phase-II in Imphal, the Eklavya Model Residential School in Tokpa village, Loktak Project in Churachandpur district, and the four-lane bridge over the Irang River on the Imphal-Jiribam National Highway-38 in Noney district.

The Prime Minister traveled from Imphal to Guwahati to attend the centennial celebrations of Bharat Ratna Bhupen Hazarika’s birth.
