On Sunday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi presided over a high-level gathering of the leading defense establishment at his home.
The tri-services chiefs, Chief of Defence Staff (CDS) Gen. Anil Chauhan, National Security Advisor (NSA) Ajit Doval, and Defence Minister Rajnath Singh attended the meeting.
The conference was held in the tense silence along the Pakistani border, where no new violations of the ceasefire have been detected.
On Saturday, Pakistan broke the truce while vowing to follow it, and silence reigned through the night.
US President Donald Trump initially declared the truce on Saturday, and New Delhi reported that India and Pakistan had reached a consensus on halting military operations and firing.
India has continuously maintained a strong and unyielding position against terrorism in all of its forms and manifestations, and it will continue to do so, according to External Affairs Minister Jaishankar.
Although Pakistan, which had called on the United States to mediate a settlement following India’s brutality, likewise declared a truce, it reverted to its previous strategies and broke it. After India swiftly retaliated, Pakistan ceased launching missiles and drones into Indian territory.
India stated unequivocally that Pakistani drones were seen and stopped in a number of places in Jammu & Kashmir, including Barmer in Rajasthan, Srinagar, and parts of Gujarat. It was necessary to reinstate blackouts in a number of border regions.
India claimed that the military was providing a “adequate and appropriate response” to Pakistan’s breach of the ceasefire.
During a late-night press conference on Saturday, Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri emphasized that India has taken “very, very serious notice of these violations.”
We urge Pakistan to respond appropriately to these transgressions and to treat the matter responsibly and seriously. The military is keeping a close eye on the situation and has been ordered to take severe action against any recurrence of border violations at the LoC and the International Border,” he said.
Following the ceasefire deal, Pakistan later declared that it “remains committed to faithful implementation.” Shehbaz Sharif, the country’s prime minister, “Pakistan believes this marks a new beginning in the resolution of issues that have plagued the region and prevented its journey toward peace, prosperity and stability.”
