Leading Indian jewellery business opens its largest US store in Virginia

A famous Indian jewellery firm has established its largest store in the United States, marking a huge expansion of its US footprint as it aims to cater to the expanding Indian diaspora in the region.

Tanishq, the Tata Group’s flagship jewellery brand, established its first showroom in the Greater Washington, DC metropolitan region.

Formally inaugurated by India’s Ambassador to the US, Vinay Mohan Kwatra, along with Virginia State Senator Kannan Srinivasan and several others, the Virginia store is the largest of this prominent Indian jewellery brand owned by the Tata Group.

With this launch, the brand currently has eight outlets across the United States.

At the ribbon-cutting ceremony, Kwatra, who presided as the principal guest and Srinivasan were accompanied by Michael McCabe, Resident Director, Tata Sons North America. As the ceremonial ribbon was cut beneath a massive gold chandelier, store executives and members of the community crowded the well-lit showroom.

The approximately 5,000-square-foot Tysons site secretly welcomed customers on August 8, according to Tanishq authorities. Since then, the response, according to company management, has beyond expectations.

Tanishq’s narrative is being introduced at a time when Indian businesses are gradually expanding their operations and investments throughout the United States.

Speaking at the event, Suchita Sonalika, Director and Head–North America at the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII), called it as fantastic narrative of Indian enterprises increasing their footprint in the US. The tenacity of Indian businesses and their continued investment in this nation.

“We are so happy to see this Indian strength of investment stays strong in this country, allowing us to build a stronger narrative of our investments, of our job creation and of course local impact in the US,” Sonalika added, noting that around 160 Indian companies have invested $40 billion in the United States.

The new store in Tysons is among the brand’s largest in the country and showcases more than 5,000 distinct pieces. From everyday wear to bridal sets and high-end cocktail jewelry, the assortment is designed to appeal to a cross-section of clients.

Tanishq plans to open two more flagship locations later this month: Orlando, Florida, and Boston, Massachusetts. Its ambitious ambition is to open over 30 upscale stores nationwide.

Earlier this year, the brand added stores in Redmond, Washington, and Atlanta, Georgia, adding to its current presence in New Jersey, Houston, Dallas and Chicago.
