India has the lowest unemployment rate among G20 countries at 2%, according to the World Economic Forum’s “The Future of Jobs Report 2025,” which was referenced by Minister for Labour & Employment Mansukh Mandaviya on Monday.

In addition to highlighting the supporting government programs that have helped to achieve this, he stated that employment creation has occurred across all industries in unison with India’s strong economic growth.

The minister was speaking at a ceremony held here to sign a Memorandum of Understanding between the Ministry of Labour & career and “Mentor Together” and “Quikr” to improve youth employability and career prospects on the National Career Service (NCS) Portal.

“With nearly 52 lakh registered employers, 5.79 crore job seekers, and over 7.22 crore vacancies mobilized, the National Career Service (NCS) platform is now evolving to offer not just job listings, but as a one-stop solution for all employment-related services,” Mandaviya stated in his speech. There are more than 44 lakh open positions on the platform right now.

“The Ministry has inked Memorandums of Understanding with ten significant companies, including Amazon and Swiggy, in the last 12 months. Nearly five lakh jobs have already been filled thanks to these collaborations,” the minister continued.

Recalling that Prime Minister Narendra Modi had announced a package of five flagship schemes with a total budget of Rs 2 lakh crore at the beginning of the government’s third term to support employment, skilling, and opportunities for 4.1 crore youth, Mandaviya emphasized the government’s renewed focus on youth.

With an allocation of Rs 99,446 crore, the Pradhan Mantri Viksit Bharat Rozgar Yojana (PM-VBRY) is a major focus of this package. Its goal is to incentivize the creation of over 3.5 crore employment in two years, of which 1.92 crore will benefit new hires.

Mandaviya welcomed the Ministry’s partnership with the two organizations, saying that these collaborations would provide job seekers with structured mentoring and appropriate employment opportunities, especially with the Pradhan Mantri Viksit Bharat Rozgar Yojana taking effect in August of this year. He continued by saying that the country as a whole as well as the youth would gain from these partnerships.

With city- and district-level outreach, the partnership with Mentor Together is anticipated to reach two lakh youth in its first year, including one lakh from NCS and one lakh Pradhan Mantri Viksit Bharat Rozgar Yojana entrants. This will ensure that no jobseeker is left behind by providing individualized career mentoring.

Additionally, it will make it possible for new job seekers—especially those from underrepresented backgrounds—to receive individualized advice from more than 24,000 qualified experts.

By incorporating Quikr Jobs’ more than 1,200 daily job postings from more than 1200 cities into the NCS portal, the Memorandum of Understanding renewal with Quikr seeks to further enhance the employment ecosystem. According to the minister, this partnership will increase millions of job searchers’ real-time access to openings, particularly for those from underserved and rural areas.
