According to Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney, India’s invitation to the G7 Summit is a “testament” to the country’s significance on the global scene and Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership.

Carney stated at the beginning of their bilateral discussion here on Tuesday that working together to combat terrorism also requires Inda’s involvement.

“It is my honor to visit Canada once again after 2015 and be present with the people here,” Prime Minister Modi said, thanking Carney for the invitation to the G7 Summit.

He added that India is the largest democracy in the world and that New Delhi, while hosting the G20 Summit, has taken a number of positive steps for the world. Today, at the G7 Summit, the solid foundation India laid during the G20 Summit has taken on a new form and direction in its execution, and this presents India with the chance to work for the humanitarian good for which it has always been dedicated, both now and in the future.

“India and Canada have excellent relations,” PM Modi continued. Indians have made investments in Canada’s vast territory, and Canadian businesses are investing in India. Both nations are dedicated to upholding democratic principles, advancing democracy and humanity, and making the best use of our resources for the sake of humanity. We look forward to working closely with you during your term as Prime Minister of Canada, and I congratulate the Canadian Prime Minister on his historic victory in the general elections earlier this year.”

“PM Carney and I look forward to working closely to add momentum to the India-Canada friendship,” he added in a post on his official X account. In this sense, there is enormous potential in sectors like trade, energy, space, clean energy, vital minerals, fertilizers, and more. @MarkJCarney.

PM Modi wrote on X that Canada and India “are connected by a strong belief in democracy, freedom, and rule of law” and that their meeting was wonderful.

Since the 2019 Biarritz conference in France, India has participated in the G7 Summits, according to Carney.

“It’s a testament to the importance of your country, to your leadership, and to the importance of the issues that we look to tackle together,” Carney remarked as he greeted PM Modi.

These problems, he explained, include “from energy security, from the energy transition that you’re hoping to lead, to the future of artificial intelligence to the fight that we have against transnational repression… against terrorism… and against other factors” .

Carney is attempting to mend the strained ties with India that were caused by his predecessor, former Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, who leveled charges against India while under the sway of Khalistanis.

Speaking on his official X account, PM Modi stated, “PM Carney and I look forward to working closely.”

Carney reiterated his invitation to PM Modi when serving as the G7 President and host of the Kananaskis Summit, stating that “India is the fifth-largest economy in the world, the most populous country in the world, and central to supply chains.”

With one million Indian citizens and 1.8 million Indo-Canadians, Canada boasts one of the biggest diasporas.
