On National Technology Day, Prime Minister Narendra Modi paid tribute to the Indian scientific community and recalled the 1998 Pokhran nuclear tests, describing them as a turning point in India’s development.
PM Modi posted a message on the social media site X that read, “Happy National Technology Day! We commemorate the 1998 Pokhran tests and show our joy and appreciation for our scientists on this day. They marked a turning point in the development of our country, particularly in our pursuit of independence.
The Prime Minister emphasized the government’s commitment to advancing technology and stated that India is becoming a worldwide leader in this area.
“With the help of our people, India is becoming a worldwide leader in a variety of technological fields, including space, artificial intelligence, digital innovation, green technology, and more. We reaffirm our dedication to using research and knowledge to empower future generations. May technology advance humanity, protect our country, and spur forward-thinking development.
The successful nuclear tests at Pokhran in 1998, which made India a nuclear power and demonstrated its scientific prowess to the world, are celebrated annually on May 11 as National Technology Day.
Rajnath Singh, the minister of defense, also wished them well and praised the work of Indian scientists.
On National Technology Day, India honors the scientists, engineers, and technicians who create new technologies that improve our lives, he wrote in his post on X. We are proud of our scientists’ outstanding work that resulted in the successful Pokhran tests in 1998. It was a pivotal period in Indian history.
