In order to assess the destruction brought about by recent torrential rains, flash floods, landslides, and soil erosion throughout the region, Union Home Minister and Minister of Cooperation Amit Shah is traveling to Jammu on Sunday.
In order to evaluate the damage and ongoing relief efforts in the most impacted districts, Shah will perform an aerial assessment this morning as part of his two-day tour, which started on August 31.
The Home Minister will launch an aerial reconnaissance of flood-affected areas at approximately 10:45 a.m., including Kishtwar, where landslides and cloudbursts have caused a major loss of infrastructure and human life, and Katra, the base camp of the holy Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine.
There have apparently been many fatalities from these calamities, including pilgrims from the Vaishno Devi and Machail Mata yatras.
HM Shah will preside over a high-level review meeting at Raj Bhawan after the aerial evaluation. The meeting’s main objectives will be to assess the response activities and quicken the pace of rescue, rehabilitation, and relief operations in the impacted districts.
The Home Minister will get an update on the state of ongoing operations from senior representatives of the Ministry of Home Affairs, the J&K government, and security services.
In-depth reports on the damage assessment, infrastructure loss, and the relief efforts being carried out are anticipated from Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha, senior bureaucrats, and disaster management officials.
Shah is being accompanied throughout the visit by a team from the Union Ministry of Home Affairs.
Shah will concentrate on efforts to provide assistance, rehabilitation, and restoration in the impacted areas. In order to assist impacted areas, the Home Minister may make announcements regarding decisions pertaining to connectivity restoration, rehabilitation initiatives, and other issues.
Chief Minister Omar Abdullah conducted a thorough tour of the districts of Ramban and Udhampur earlier on Sunday in order to evaluate the extensive destruction brought on by recent mudslides, landslides, flash floods, and cloudbursts that have seriously disrupted life and damaged the Jammu-Srinagar National Highway (NH-44).
