After the national anthems, players from both teams gave each other high fives before shaking hands after a hotly contested 3-3 draw in Tuesday’s junior hockey match between India and Pakistan at the Sultan of Johor Cup in Johor Bahru, Malaysia.

In contrast, during last month’s Asia Cup cricket tournament, Indian and Pakistani players did not engage in any on-field contact.

Following Operation Sindoor, the Indian cricket team, captained by Suryakumar Yadav, did not shake hands with their Pakistani counterparts during the Asia Cup, instead dedicating their triumph to the family impacted by the Pahalgam terror incident. Later, Mohsin Naqvi, the head of the PCB and ACC and the interior minister of Pakistan, refused to give the trophy to India.

“I’m not sure what will occur next. Delhi is still a long way off. Dilli abhi bahut door hai. What will happen with Pakistan in the upcoming match is unknown to me. In any case, we only compete in multi-nation events, but we’ll see what occurs. We want to relish this moment for the time being,” Yadav had stated.

On the other hand, everything went according to plan at the Sultan of Johor Cup hockey game between the Indian and Pakistani youth teams. Following the national anthems, the players shook hands and gave each other high fives following an exciting 3–3 draw.

The Pakistan Hockey Federation (PHF) reportedly told its players to stay out of arguments and concentrate only on the game before the game, which helped maintain a polite and sportsmanlike atmosphere on the field.
