Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the UAE’s Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs in Abu Dhabi, co-chaired the 16th Joint Commission and 5th Strategic Dialogue with External Affairs Minister (EAM) S. Jaishankar.
The two leaders examined every facet of India and the UAE’s Comprehensive Strategic Partnership and determined important future priorities.
“Deeper India-UAE cooperation advances shared interests and contributes to regional and global stability in today’s world,” EAM Jaishankar stated on social media site X on Tuesday.
The EAM emphasized at the conference how the Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (CEPA) and Bilateral Investment Treaty (BIT) have led to a notable increase in bilateral trade, investments, fintech, and digital connectivity. Additionally, he emphasized the enormous potential in logistics and connectivity, both bilaterally and through programs like the India-Middle East-Europe Economic Corridor (IMEC).
EAM Jaishankar emphasized the growth of energy cooperation, with a focus on civil nuclear cooperation, bolstering defense and security cooperation, and fostering educational and cultural interactions.
He also emphasized the significance of fostering intercultural relationships and interpersonal interactions, investigating new areas of collaboration in space, polar research, and vital minerals, as well as closer coordination in multilateral forums and trilateral processes.
Jaishankar visited Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, the vice president of the United Arab Emirates, on Monday in Abu Dhabi, where they talked about measures to improve defense and commercial cooperation between India and the UAE.
