On the occasion of Rani Lakshmibai’s birth, Prime Minister Narendra Modi honored her and said that her sacrifice and fight to preserve the glory of the country would always be remembered.
A key player in the 1857 Rebellion was Rani Lakshmibai. From 1843 until 1853, she was the queen consort of the princely state of Jhansi. She assumed a leadership position and participated in multiple engagements against the British once the conflict started.
“A respectful tribute to Maa Bharti’s immortal warrior queen, Rani Lakshmibai on her birth anniversary,” PM Modi wrote in a post on X. Even now, her bravery and valor during the first fight of independence continue to inspire fervor and passion in the hearts of her fellow citizens.
“A grateful nation can never forget her sacrifice and struggle for the protection of the pride of the motherland,” he said.
The warrior queen was also honored by Union Home Minister Amit Shah, who wrote on X, “Rani Lakshmibai Ji, who made the protection of the motherland the supreme purpose of her life, played an unforgettable role in shaping the revolution of 1857 with her foresight.”
“She battled the British on the battlefield and in diplomacy with her bravery, valor, and great courage. He continued, “Everyone in the nation should read her story of bravery and be motivated by her selflessness and commitment to the homeland.”
Mohan Yadav, the chief minister of Madhya Pradesh, also honored Rani Lakshmibai on social media, writing, “On the birth anniversary of the great warrior queen Rani Lakshmibai, the epitome of indomitable courage, patriotism, and self-respect, I offer millions of salutations.”
“Your fierce combat against the British on the battlefield brought the entire nation together for the cause of freedom and gave the 1857 revolution a new direction. “Your brave life serves as an example for all of us,” he continued.
