On Wednesday, Congressman Rahul Gandhi will speak at his first electoral rallies in Bihar, officially launching his campaign for the 2025 Bihar Assembly elections.
At two joint rallies in Sakra (Muzaffarpur) and Darbhanga, Gandhi will take the platform alongside RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav, the chief ministerial face of the Mahagathbandhan (Grand Alliance).
This will be Gandhi’s first trip to the state during the current election campaign, according to Rajesh Rathore, Chairman of the Bihar Congress Media Department. In order to support Congress candidate Umesh Kumar Ram, the Mahagathbandhan nominee from the Sakra (reserved) constituency, he will first speak at a public gathering in Sakra. Gandhi and Tejashwi will jointly organize another rally in Darbhanga later in the day to appeal to alliance candidates running from the Mithilanchal region.
Large audiences are anticipated at the rallies, according to party leaders, signifying a display of solidarity between the Congress and the RJD ahead of the pivotal Bihar elections. Rahul Gandhi and Tejashwi Yadav’s first combined appearance in the current campaign highlights the opposition bloc’s attempts to put up a united front against the National Democratic Alliance (NDA), which is led by the BJP and JD (U).
Prior to this campaign phase, Rathore recalled that Rahul Gandhi had visited Bihar for 16 days in a row on his “Voter Adhikar Yatra” in August, traveling approximately 1,300 kilometers to speak with people in various districts.
Gandhi’s absence from the Bihar campaign thus far has been questioned by the NDA, which claims that the Congress has been falling behind its allies in fieldwork.
Gandhi criticized the central government on social media on Saturday for poor train services during the holiday season, drawing attention to the challenges experienced by migrant workers traveling back to Bihar for Chhath Puja.
