As he and Union Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal planted two trees in the northern Italian city of Brescia on the occasion of World Environment Day, Italy’s Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Antonio Tajani praised Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s ‘Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam’ initiative.

During last year’s World Environment Day, Prime Minister Modi introduced the ‘Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam‘ campaign and encouraged his fellow citizens to support it by joining it. The program supports the planet’s health in addition to honoring moms’ contributions to fostering a child’s life.
The ‘Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam’ has garnered international attention since its inception and has been highly praised by various corners for its intention and capacity to transform climate preservation efforts into a ‘people’s revolution.
The goal of this year’s ‘Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam Par 2.0’ campaign is to plant 10 crore trees around India between June 5 and September 30.
While on an official visit to Italy, Goyal reaffirmed India’s resolve to strengthen bilateral trade and investment partnerships as well as its strategic and economic connections with important European allies.
At a luncheon Tajani hosted earlier Wednesday, the Indian minister spoke to a high-profile audience and held fruitful talks about strengthening India-Italy commercial cooperation.
