On Wednesday at 11 a.m., CP Radhakrishnan, the National Democratic Alliance’s (NDA) nominee for vice president, is scheduled to submit his nomination.
The front-runner in the initial round of nomination papers will be Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
Each of the four sets of nominations will have the signatures of 20 proposers and 20 seconders. As the chief proposer, PM Modi will sign the first set, but the other sets will also feature signatures from key NDA leaders and Union ministries, indicating a wide alliance accord.
It is anticipated that some 160 NDA members, including ministers and MPs, will be present at Parliament House when the nomination papers are filed.
In a crucial meeting of NDA floor leaders at Union Minister Pralhad Joshi’s home, the choice to select CP Radhakrishnan was made unanimously. All of the leaders in attendance promised their complete support for Radhakrishnan’s candidacy, according to Union Minister and senior NDA ally Jitan Ram Manjhi, who verified the overwhelming support.
Prime Minister Modi praised CP Radhakrishnan’s services to public life earlier on Sunday, calling him a leader who had “humility, intellect, and grassroots connect.” “Three CP Radhakrishnan Ji has distinguished himself in his long years in public life with his dedication, humility, and intellect,” PM Modi wrote in a message shared on X. Community service and empowering the underprivileged have always been his main priorities. I am happy that he has been chosen by the NDA family to be our alliance’s vice presidential candidate.
Senior BJP politician Radhakrishnan, who is currently Meghalaya’s governor, has a long history in both politics and government. Known for his legislative expertise and dedication to social development, he has represented Tamil Nadu as a Member of Parliament.
Given the NDA’s numerical advantage in Parliament, Radhakrishnan is predicted to win the vice presidential poll, which is set for next month.
