On Monday, Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman provided a unique look into Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s personal life, characterizing him as a kind, considerate, and profoundly compassionate person in addition to being a powerful and resolute leader.
On social networking site X, Sitharaman published a video message with the hashtag #MyModiStory, recalling a poignant episode in her career that demonstrated the Prime Minister’s concern for his coworkers’ welfare.
As part of #SevaPakhwada2025, we will commemorate the birthday of Hon. PM @narendramodi in a few days. My experience has led me to believe that PM Modi is a strong leader who is also kind and sensitive,” she remarked.
Sitharaman recalled the day of her very first Budget address, saying it was an experience she would never forget due to what transpired after the speech, not the speech itself.
“My phone rang just as I was getting home. The Honorable Prime Minister was there. “Why didn’t you take care of yourself ?” was the first thing I heard, and it was full of sincere concern. He had already acted before I could reply. He dispatched his personal physician to my house, telling him to perform all the tests and make sure I was completely well,” she revealed.
She went on to say that PM Modi’s concern remained constant, which was what most moved her.
He occasionally reminds me, even today: ‘Are you taking care of yourself ? How are you doing? It is extremely remarkable when a national leader demonstrates such kindness.
Sitharaman emphasized that although the majority of people consider PM Modi as a tough and solemn leader, and with good reason, she has also noticed a more compassionate side of him.
“Hon’ble PM @narendramodi ji is viewed by the public as a strong, serious, and resolute leader, and he is indeed all three. However, I have also witnessed a different side of him—one that is kind, considerate, and compassionate. He is unique because of that blend of compassion and firmness,” she continued.
