India and the United States have a “MEGA” alliance for development, according to Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
In a joint meeting with President Donald Trump on Thursday, Prime Minister Modi compared Trump’s “Make America Great Again (MAGA)” slogan with India’s Viksit Bharat goal, which he said translates to “Make India Great Again (MIGA).”
“A joint vision of ‘MAGA’ and ‘MIGA’ became a ‘MEGA’ partnership for prosperity,” according to PM Modi.
“MAGA, or Make America Great Again, is President Trump’s mantra, and the American people are well aware of it. As they advance quickly and resolutely towards the aim of Viksit Bharat 2047, the Indian people are also concentrating on growth and heritage. Make India Great Again, or MIGA, is the American term for it. “This MAGA plus MIGA becomes a’mega partnership for prosperity’ when America and India collaborate, and it is this mega spirit that gives new scale and scope to our objectives,” the prime minister stated.
Additionally, the two leaders declared that by 2030, India and the US have set a bilateral trade goal of USD 500 billion.
By 2030, we hope to have more than doubled our bilateral trade to USD 500 billion, which is another goal we stated today. “Our teams will work on finalising a mutually beneficial trade agreement very soon,” PM Modi stated, adding that the two nations are making progress towards technology transfer, joint production, and joint development.
“To guarantee India’s energy security, we would increase trading in gas and oil. There will be more investment in the energy infrastructure. We discussed strengthening our collaboration in the field of nuclear energy, specifically with regard to small modular reactors. India’s defence readiness is significantly influenced by the United States. We will have more capacity in the days ahead thanks to new equipment and technologies,” he stated.
Later, PM Modi posted on his X handle, “President Trump frequently discusses MAGA. We are striving for a Viksit Bharat in India, which is equivalent to MIGA in the US context. Additionally, India and the United States have a MEGA cooperation for prosperity.
