The Manthan Baithak of Cooperation Ministers from all States and Union Territories is set to be chaired by Union Home Minister and Cooperation Minister Amit Shah on Monday at Bharat Mandapam in New Delhi.
The Ministry of Cooperation is hosting a high-level meeting to assess progress and develop a path for strengthening the cooperative sector throughout India.
Cooperation Ministers, Additional Chief Secretaries, Principal Secretaries, and Secretaries of Cooperation Departments from every State and UT will attend the meeting.
The Manthan Baithak’s main goals were to assess how important initiatives were being carried out, exchange best practices, and promote convergence with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s “Sahkar Se Samriddhi” (Prosperity via Cooperation) vision.
The creation of two lakh new Multi-purpose Primary Agricultural Credit organizations (PACS) and cooperative organizations in the dairy and fisheries industries was one of the conference’s main objectives. These initiatives seek to empower farmers, fishermen, and local business owners while improving last-mile service delivery in rural communities.
The summit will examine the World’s Largest Grain Storage Scheme’s development in the cooperative sector, which is anticipated to improve the nation’s agricultural infrastructure and food security.
Another important topic of discussion is how states could assist the three recently established National Multi-state Cooperative Societies: Bharatiya Beej Sahkari Samiti Ltd (BBSSL), National Cooperative Organics Ltd (NCOL), and National Cooperative Export Ltd (NCEL).
According to a Ministry of Cooperation press release, “States will also present their progress under the “Cooperation Among Cooperatives” campaign and the ongoing “International Year of Cooperatives 2025,” along with expectations for wider engagement.”
“This Manthan Baithak will act as a catalyst in highlighting the critical role of States/UTs in transforming state-level cooperatives into vibrant economic entities, through close collaboration between Center & States, with the spirit of cooperative federalism,” it stated.
