Our ‘pride’ is the Indian diaspora, according to PM Modi in Trinidad & Tobago

Speaking to the Indian community following his arrival in Trinidad and Tobago, Prime Minister Narendra Modi praised them on Thursday, referring to them as “Ambassador of values and cultures” and “Rashtradoot.”

“We greatly appreciate our diaspora’s resilience and support. We are proud of the Indian diaspora, which consists of more than 35 million individuals worldwide. Each of you is a Rashtradoot, an ambassador of India’s ideals, culture, and legacy, as I have frequently stated,” the Prime Minister continued.

Additionally, he stated: “This year, Trinidad and Tobago President Christine Carla Kangaloo ji was our Chief Guest when we hosted the Pravasi Bharatiya Diwas in Bhubaneshwar. Prime Minister Kamla Persad-Bissessar Ji honored us with her presence a few years back.

“I made a number of announcements at the Pravasi Bhartiya Divas to honor and engage with the Girmitiya community worldwide. In order to create a bright future, we are mapping the past and bringing people closer together. A thorough database on the Girmitiya community is something we are currently working on. locating the locations where they have settled, recording the Indian villages and cities from whence their ancestors moved, researching and conserving the Girmitiya forefathers’ legacy, and attempting to regularly host World Girmitiya Conferences. Additionally, this will strengthen our long-standing and close relationships with our brothers and sisters in Trinidad and Tobago,” the prime minister continued.

“I have no doubt that you all celebrated Ram Lalla’s 500-year absence from Ayodhya. In order to construct the Ram Mandir in Ayodhya, you sent holy water and “Shila.” In the same spirit of devotion, I have brought something here as well. Bringing a replica of Ram Mandir and some water from the Holy Saryu is an honor for me,” Mr. Modi remarked.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced on Thursday that the sixth generations of the Indian diaspora in Trinidad and Tobago will soon receive their Overseas Citizenship of India (OCI) cards, highlighting that India has welcomed them and that they are not only related by blood or last names.

“I am pleased to announce that the sixth generation of the Indian diaspora in Trinidad and Tobago will now receive OCI cards. Blood and surname are not the only things that bind you together. A sense of belonging binds you together. During his speech to the Indian community in Trinidad and Tobago, Prime Minister Modi declared, “India looks out for you, welcomes you, and embraces you.”

He added that the Buxar region of Bihar was the ancestral home of PM Kamla Persad-Bissessar.

“She is regarded as Bihar’s daughter… India and the world are proud of Bihar’s legacy. For ages, Bihar has led the world in a number of sectors. In the twenty-first century, Bihar will also present new prospects,” he continued.

The Prime Minister also expressed his profound trust and devotion to Lord Ram and joyfully greeted Ram Lalla’s return to Ayodhya after a 500-year absence.

“We remember you had sent holy water and Shilas for building the Ram Mandir in Ayodhya,” Prime Minister Modi remarked in a speech to the Indian diaspora.

“I have brought something here as well, and it is equally dedicated. Along with some holy water from the River Sarayu, I also purchased a replica of the Ram Mandir,” he continued.

Additionally, PM Modi stated: “It is reported that the Ram-Leelas in Sangre Grande and Dow Village are genuinely unique. “राम धामदा पुरी सुहावनि। लोक समस्त बिदित अति पावनि।।,” says Shri Ram Charit Manas. It indicates that Prabhu Shri Ram’s holy city is so exquisite that people all over the world are enamored with it. I have no doubt that you all joyfully greeted Ram Lalla’s 500-year absence from Ayodhya.

According to Prabhu Shri Ram, the sacred Sarayu is the source of Ayodhya’s splendor. According to PM Modi, “whoever dips in its water finds eternal union with Shri Ram himself.”

“As everyone is aware, the Maha Kumbh, the biggest religious assembly in the world, was held earlier this year. It is an honor for me to also be carrying water from the Maha Kumbh. Here, I ask PM Kamla Persad-Bissessar ji to offer the Ganga Dhara the sacred waters of the Sarayu River and Maha Kumbh. May the people of Trinidad and Tobago be blessed by these sacred waters.

Additionally, the Prime Minister stated: “I am aware that the tale of the Indian community in Trinidad and Tobago is one of bravery. Even the most resilient people might have been crushed by the conditions your ancestors endured. However, they tackled adversity with optimism. They persevered in overcoming obstacles. Despite leaving the Ganga and Yamuna behind, they kept the Ramayana close to their hearts. Their souls remained, but they departed their soil. They weren’t merely immigrants. They were representatives of an enduring civilization. This nation has benefited spiritually, economically, and culturally from their contributions. Just consider the influence you have all had on our lovely country.

“Our bond goes beyond geography and generations,” PM Modi said.

“Kamla Persad-Bissessar Ji – as the first woman Prime Minister of this country,” the Prime Minister added. The female president is Her Excellency Christine Carla Kangaloo Ji. The late Basdeo Pandey, a farmer’s son, became a respected world leader and prime minister. Sewdass Sadhu, whose dedication created the Temple in the Sea; cricketing prodigy Darren Ganga; music legend Sundar Popo; and renowned math professor Rudranath Capildeo. The list of accomplished people is endless.

“Struggle is no longer what defines you, Girmitiyas’ children. Your values, your service, and your achievements define who you are. Since you have doubled this great country’s success, there must be a magical element in the “doubles” and “dal poori.” In his speech to the Indian community here, PM Modi stated.

“We all appreciated the pull shots and cover drives of Lara when I was there the previous time, which was 25 years ago. These days, it is Nicholas Pooran and Sunil Narine who arouse the same passion in our young people. Our bond has only gotten stronger since then.

“Indian cities could include Benaras, Patna, Kolkata, and Delhi. Here, however, they are also street names. Here, they celebrate Janmasthmi, Mahashivratri, and Navratra with pride, excitement, and a positive attitude. Here, Chowtal and Baithak Gana are still flourishing.

“I recognize a lot of faces and their friendliness. And I see a younger generation’s bright eyes full of curiosity, eager to learn and develop together. Actually, our ties transcend both time and place.
