Earlier on Monday, PM Modi commended the BRICS for prioritizing important concerns including health security and the environment. He emphasized the importance of the topics for humanity’s bright future and emphasized that, for India, achieving climate justice is a moral requirement rather than merely a personal preference.

PM Modi emphasized that climate change and environmental safety have always been India’s top concerns while speaking here at the BRICS session on Environment, COP-30, and Global Health. “For us, it is not just about energy, it is about maintaining a balance between life and nature,” the prime minister stated.

“I’m happy that BRICS has prioritized critical problems like health security and the environment under Brazil’s chairmanship. In addition to being closely related, these topics are crucial for humanity’s promising future.

Because COP-30 is being held in Brazil this year, the BRICS environmental debates are urgent and pertinent. India has traditionally placed a high premium on environmental protection and climate change mitigation. For us, it’s about preserving the harmony between nature and life, not only about energy. In India, it’s a part of our everyday lives and customs, while for others, it’s simply numbers. The Earth is revered like a mother in our culture. We always answer when Mother Earth calls for us because of this. “We are changing the way we think, act, and live,” the prime minister declared.

He added: “India has started a number of important projects, including Mission LiFE (Lifestyle for Environment), ‘Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam’ (A Tree in the Name of Mother), the International Solar Alliance, the Coalition for Disaster Resilient Infrastructure, the Green Hydrogen Mission, the Global Biofuels Alliance, and the Big Cats Alliance, all driven by the motto ‘People, Planet, and Progress.'”

“Building bridges between the Global North and South and promoting sustainable development were top priorities during India’s G20 Presidency. With this goal in mind, we were able to get all nations to agree on the Green Development Pact. We also started the Green Credits Initiative to promote eco-friendly behavior.
