According to Russia’s Defense Ministry, Russian air defense forces shot down some 120 Ukrainian drones last night.

“During the past night from 20:00 (1700 GMT) on August 9 to 06:10 Moscow time (0310 GMT) on August 10, air defence duty forces destroyed and intercepted 121 fixed-wing Ukrainian unmanned aerial vehicles,” the ministry stated in a statement.

The ministry also stated that more than 34 drones, including one above the Moscow Region, were shot down on Sunday between 8:30 a.m. (0530 GMT) and 3 p.m. (1200 GMT), according to Xinhua news agency.

The Saratov Region’s governor said on Telegram that one person had been killed by falling drone debris.

The Ukrainian Air Force said Sunday that 70 of the 100 combat and decoy drones that Russia used in the midnight raid were shot down by air defense systems.

A massive drone strike that targeted the energy and transportation infrastructure of the Volgograd region overnight was repulsed by Russian air defense forces earlier on August 4, 2025, according to regional authorities.

“There were no casualties,” tweeted Volgograd Governor Andrey Bocharov.

According to Bocharov, a high-voltage power line was damaged by debris from drones that were intercepted, which caused the town of Ilovlya and neighboring settlements to lose their electricity supply. To restore power, emergency repair teams were sent out.

Trains were temporarily suspended when explosive ordnance disposal experts extinguished an unexploded drone that had fallen on the rails after a fire broke out at a technical building in the Archeda railway station in the town of Frolovo.
