In an effort to further solidify the already strong India-Italy relationship, Prime Minister Narendra Modi hailed his Italian colleague Giorgia Meloni on Wednesday for her kind birthday wishes on his 75th birthday.
“Thank you for your kind words, Prime Minister Meloni. “I sincerely value our friendship with Italy and look forward to further solidifying it,” PM Modi wrote on X.
After receiving heartfelt birthday greetings from Meloni, PM Modi responded. She hoped to further the relationship between the two countries and wished him health and vitality to continue guiding India toward a bright future.
Meloni said, “Happy 75th birthday to the Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi,” alongside a picture of him on X. One is inspired by his fortitude, tenacity, and capacity to guide millions of people. I wish him health and vitality to continue guiding India into a bright future and to further fortify our countries’ ties with friendship and respect.”
In a phone call with Meloni on September 10, PM Modi reiterated the two leaders’ shared commitment to strengthening the India-Italy Strategic Partnership. Meloni and endorsing the success of the AI Impact Summit, which India is hosting in 2026.
For her assistance in finalizing the trade agreement between India and the European Union (EU) and advancing connectivity through the India–Middle East–Europe Economic Corridor (IMEEEC) initiative, the prime minister praised his Italian counterpart.
Additionally, the two leaders discussed topics of common interest on a regional and global level. They both agreed that the issue in Ukraine must be resolved quickly and amicably. India’s full support for initiatives in this direction was reaffirmed by PM Modi.
The discussion with Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni was outstanding. We reiterated our shared interest in ending the Ukrainian conflict as soon as possible and our commitment to strengthening the India-Italy Strategic Partnership. Following the phone conversation, PM Modi wrote on X, “Thanked PM Meloni for Italy’s proactive support for concluding a mutually beneficial India-EU trade agreement and promoting connectivity through the IMEEEC initiative.”
“Both leaders reviewed and positively assessed the developments in bilateral Strategic Partnership across sectors like investment, defense, security, space, science and technology, education, people-to-people ties, and counter-terrorism,” the Indian Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) said.
Additionally, in accordance with the Joint Strategic Action Plan 2025-29, they reiterated their commitment to further strengthening the cooperation.
The last time PM Modi and Meloni met, it was during the 51st G7 Summit in Canada’s Kananaskis in June. Both leaders agreed to strengthen India-Italy ties.Oh,

During the conference, PM Modi was seen on camera shaking hands with Meloni and speaking with her briefly.
