Following the conclusion of its visit to Panama, the all-party Indian Parliamentary Delegation headed by Congress MP Shashi Tharoor landed in Colombia to emphasize India’s unwavering stance against terrorism.

Tharoor posted a social media update from Bogota highlighting the visit’s successful start in Colombia.

“Our tour to Colombia began today with our Ambassador Vanlalhuma briefing the delegation. This was followed by a well-attended news conference with over a dozen local media sources. Juan Camillo Ramirez, a journalist from Colombia, was the next person I interviewed. “Sending the message to the right people!” he wrote on X.

As part of the Government of India’s larger diplomatic effort under Operation Sindoor, the delegation—which included MPs Sarfraz Ahmad, Ganti Harish Madhur, Shashank Mani Tripathi, Milind Murli Deora, Bhubaneswar Kalita, and Tejasvi Surya—arrived in Colombia on Thursday night. Ambassador Taranjit Singh Sandhu was also with them.

In addition to highlighting India’s unwavering stance against terrorism, the May 29–May 31 visit aims to deepen relations with key Latin American allies.

In order to emphasize India’s zero-tolerance stance against terrorism and to further strengthen bilateral collaboration, the delegation will meet with Colombian politicians, ministers, policy think tanks, and media representatives over the course of the following two days.

This visit comes after a major diplomatic engagement in Panama, when Indian Ambassador Sumit Seth received the Indian delegation.

“Our trip ended with a spectacular reception hosted by Ambassador Seth for the diplomatic corps and influential Panamanian personalities,” Tharoor said, looking back on that portion. In their remarks, the Foreign Minister and his Vice-Minister, Carlos Hoyos, expressed deep sympathy for India and support for our joint efforts to combat terrorism and strengthen our close partnership.

The purpose of the delegation’s Latin American journey is to draw attention to Pakistan’s support of cross-border terrorism and to demonstrate India’s global anti-terrorist posture.
