At the 51st G7 Summit held here on Tuesday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi took part in the energy security outreach session.

The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) Spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal posted on social media platform X to discuss India’s global initiatives, including the International Solar Alliance (a treaty-based international organization focused on solar energy), the Global Biofuels Alliance, and the Coalition for Disaster Resilient Infrastructure (CDRI), which is a global partnership focused on enhancing the resilience of infrastructure systems to climate and disaster risks, with strong support from national governments. During his speech, PM Modi emphasized the need to ensure energy security for all people through a sustainable and green pathway.

Additionally, Prime Minister Modi stated: “AI is an energy-intensive technology in and of itself. Renewable energy is the most sustainable solution to meet the energy needs of a technologically advanced society. India’s top aim is to guarantee reasonably priced, dependable, and sustainable energy.

According to India, a technology is only worthwhile if it benefits everyone, and no nation in the Global South should be left behind, he continued.

Through Digital Public Infrastructure, India has democratized technology and empowered the economy and common people. According to PM Modi, relevant and qualitative data is the assurance of an AI that is inclusive, capable, and responsible.

“We must address AI-related issues, advance innovation, and engage on global governance. Critical minerals and technology must work closely together in the age of artificial intelligence. We must strengthen and secure their supply lines.

“Deepfake is quite concerning. As a result, content created by Al should be watermarked or explicitly declared,” the prime minister said.

“We witnessed rivalry for energy during the past century. We will need to collaborate on technology in this century. India has decided to pursue inclusive development, which is based on the core ideas of availability, accessibility, affordability, and acceptability.

“India is a nation that met the Paris Commitments ahead of schedule, despite having the fastest-growing major economy in the world. Our progress toward achieving Net Zero by 2070 is accelerating. Approximately half of our installed capacity is currently made up of renewable energy.

“Unfortunately, the nations of the Global South bear the brunt of unpredictability and war. They are the first to be affected by problems involving finance, food, fuel, and fertilizer. PM Modi stated that India saw it as its duty to represent the Global South’s interests and concerns on the international scene.

“Differing treatment of terrorism should not be tolerated. In addition to attacking Pahalgam, the April 22 terrorist strike also targeted every Indian’s spirit, identity, and dignity. It was an assault on all of mankind. The enemy of humanity is terrorism. It is opposed to all nations that support democracy. Our philosophy and strategy must be clear for the sake of world peace and prosperity: any nation that encourages terrorism will be held accountable. The Prime Minister said, “On the one hand, we are quick to impose all kinds of sanctions based on our own preferences.”

“India took it as its responsibility to bring the voice of the Global South to the world stage,” the Prime Minister said on X, drawing attention to the issues and objectives of the Global South.

“At the G7 summit, the Prime Minister thanked the international leaders for denouncing the horrific Pahalgam terror incident and reaffirmed India’s opposition to terrorism. He emphasized the necessity to take tough measures against those who encourage and assist terrorism and asked them to mobilize international action against it,” he continued on X.

Additionally, the Prime Minister emphasized India’s experience democratizing technology use and its human-centered approach to its implementation. In order to address concerns about artificial intelligence (AI) and to foster innovation in the field, he (PM Modi) called for resolving global governance challenges, he wrote on X.
